Bonanza Solar and Storage Facility
In order to advance California’s clean energy goals, EDF Renewables North America sought to build a solar plus storage facility on federal land in Nevada. Through a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA), power generated by the project will provide clean energy to Southern California residents. Dudek supported EDF with technical studies to satisfy Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements.
Project Facts
- EDF Renewables North America
- Clark County, Nevada
- 5,000-acre+ project area
- 300 MWac
- Operational by 2028
The Challenge
To facilitate the construction of a solar plus storage facility in Nevada, EDF needed to navigate government permitting standards, which required comprehensive environmental documentation in line with the requirements of the BLM and NEPA.
The Solution
Leveraging our experience supporting solar development on BLM land and deep understanding of the environmental resources located on the project site, Dudek technical experts provided various NEPA technical studies, evaluations, and reports to support the permitting process.
The Impact
Once operational, the Bonanza Solar and Storage facility will efficiently generate clean energy for SCPPA member utilities in Southern California. This interstate power purchase agreement sets an example for how other energy developers and utility providers can collaborate to move the nation toward its 2035 clean energy target.
