Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Transmission Line
To reduce costs and increase reliability for its ratepayers, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power needed to construct a new 500-kilovolt, 10- to 14-mile transmission line to deliver power from the Apex generating station to the Crystal switching station in Clark County, Nevada.

The Challenge
The project runs primarily across federal land requiring a number of regulatory approvals and permits from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and is subject to various mitigation requirements and best management practices.
The Solution
We specialize in environmental permitting and compliance for linear energy projects. To support BLM review, we provided environmental documentation, including preparing a plan of development; an environmental assessment addressing air quality and biological, cultural, and visual resources; and technical studies for biological and cultural resources. A notice of application has been filed.
