Brookhurst Corridor Study
The City of Anaheim’s official recognition of the Little Arabia cultural district on the Brookhurst Corridor prompted the City to address the desires, needs, and challenges of the Brookhurst community. Dudek’s Brookhurst Corridor Study focuses on a vibrant 3.5-mile stretch of Brookhurst Street, home to a rich tapestry of businesses, restaurants, cultural sites, schools, neighborhoods, places of worship, parks, and Little Arabia. This study aims to ensure the long-term success and cultural identity of the Corridor, fostering a thriving community for generations to come.

The Challenge
Brookhurst Street is not just a key transportation artery in Anaheim; it’s a dynamic ethnocultural hub. Since the 1980s, it has blossomed into a popular destination for food, clothing, and specialty products from diverse cultures, contributing to the vibrancy of Little Arabia. However, its classification as a highway and outdated land-use policies have stifled its potential as a dynamic cultural and commercial district.
The Solution
In collaboration with Kearns & West and Keyser Marston Associates, Dudek conducted comprehensive analysis, visioning, and community engagement to develop a dual set of recommendations. The first set focuses on district designation and a regulatory framework for Little Arabia, paving the way for future funding, branding, and placemaking. The second set proposes regulatory, design, and economic development measures to enhance the entire corridor, transforming it into a thriving cultural and commercial hub.

It celebrates the positive contributions of the diverse groups that have organically clustered along the Brookhurst corridor, laying the foundation for a stronger, more vibrant, and resilient community.
