Dudek biologist and habitat restoration expert Jayme Timberlake will present a demonstration depicting native habitat assessment and the benefits of habitat restoration in coastal and wetland areas at the February 18 Girls in Ocean Science (GIOS) conference at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, CA. The two-day event is dedicated to inspiring middle school and high school girls to pursue degrees and careers in the sciences.
Jayme is responsible for the creation of restoration plans for coastal, upland, wetland, and riparian restoration projects. As the scientists become ever more concerned about rising sea waters and ocean acidification, Jayme finds that habitat restoration is a critical link in mitigating these issues. In our own backyard, the San Juan Creek watershed is riddled with environmental issues that Jayme believes could be solved through habitat restoration near the mouth of the creek.
Dudek has more than 400 environmental scientists, planners, engineers, and technical staff working throughout California helping public agencies and private clients develop projects that improve the natural resources and infrastructure of local communities.
